Its research activities cover a wide range of topics, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mechanics of materials,<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Structural durability,<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fluid\u2013structure<\/b> interaction,<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Advanced manufacturing processes<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Strongly connected to industry, IRDL is a member of the Carnot Institutes <b>Agrifood Transition<\/b> and <b>ARTS<\/b>, with a mission to support industrial and environmental transitions.<\/p>\n<p>With more than <b>110 faculty researchers, 125 PhD students, 55 engineers, technicians and administrative staff, and 10 post-doctoral<\/b> fellows, IRDL plays a major role in engineering research in Brittany. It also contributes actively to research-based training through PhD supervision and numerous partnerships with companies.<\/p>\n<p>IRDL develops <b>innovative technologies<\/b> that directly feed and enrich UBSIDE\u2019s offer.<br \/>\nAmong current and upcoming innovations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>More responsible materials:<\/b> tailor-made PHAs, plant fibers with enhanced properties.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Advanced environmental analysis methods:<\/b> techniques for detecting microplastics in various environments.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Optimized processing methods:<\/b> PHA production in bioreactors, instrumentation and modeling of metal forming and assembly processes.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Eco-design and biomimicry<\/b> for
