ComposiTIC is a PFT (Technological Platform) at the University of South Brittany (UBS), part of the Dupuy de Lôme Research Institute (IRDL – UMR CNRS 6027). Since its creation in 2014, it has established itself as a key player in the field of composite materials, with a particular expertise in automated and innovative processes such as 3D printing and Automated Fiber Placement (AFP).

This technical platform fulfills three complementary missions:

  • Research & Development (R&D),
  • Knowledge and technology transfer to companies,
  • Training and education.

ComposiTIC particularly supports SMEs in modernizing their processes by guiding them toward automated and robotic solutions, thus strengthening their capacity for innovation and competitiveness.
Its areas of expertise include:

  • Digital design,
  • Product and process simulation,
  • Formulation of thermoplastic and composite materials,
  • Recycling of polymer and composite materials,
  • Development of new additive manufacturing processes.

The platform also integrates an environmental dimension, assessing the ecological impact of the materials and processes developed.

ComposiTIC provides UBSIDE with innovative technological building blocks, validated up to Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5. UBSIDE then capitalizes on these solutions to offer them to its clients in targeted markets and applications.
The transferred technologies currently cover additive manufacturing of technical polymers and composites, as well as the formulation of biodegradable materials. In the short term, new innovations will be transferred, notably in multiphysics process modeling, digital twins of automated processes, and materials recycling, with the objective of reducing environmental impact and strengthening industrial sovereignty.

This continuous flow of innovation enables UBSIDE to offer a pioneering and differentiating portfolio of solutions. On a daily basis, UBSIDE leverages the skills and equipment of ComposiTIC to deliver complete and tailored solutions to its clients.
